spindle

Значение термина spindle в knolik

spindle - spindle
spindle - Body formed within a cell at mitosis or meiosis, taking part in distribution of chromatids to the two daughter-nuclei. Commonly but not always ellipsoid. Appears at metaphase, and chromosomes become arranged at its equator. See also: Spindle Attachment. Spindle is relatively solid (a gel). It contains many micro-tubules, some running from spindle-attachments to one spindle pole, others from pole to pole. The microtubules are evidently responsible for the movement apart of chromatids during anaphase. The microtubule protein is synthesized shortly before mitosis.
