aguesseau, henri francois d' - French lawyer. Born at Limoges, he became advocate-general in 1690, procurator-general in 1700, and chancellor in 1717, an office he retained, save for two brief periods, until 1750. He died Feb. 9, 1751. A brilliant orator, he did much to reform the administration of justice.
