drupe - Succulent fruit in which wall (pericarp) consists of outer skin (epicarp), thick fleshy mesocarp and hard, stony endocarp enclosing a single seed. Commonly called stone-fruit, e.g. plum, cherry. Compare with: Berry. In some plants, e.g. coconut, mesocarp is very fibrous. Pericarp here consists of tough, leathery epicarp, very thick fibrous mesocarp and hard endocarp enclosing seed and forming with it the 'nut' we buy.
