reticulin fibres

Значение термина reticulin fibres в knolik

reticulin fibres - reticulin fibres
reticulin fibres - Very fine, almost inextensible intercellular fibres forming a network around and amongst the cells in many vertebrate tissues, e.g. muscle, nerve, kidney, liver, and other glands. They hold the tissues together. They stain selectively with special silver impregnation methods (hence name argyrophil fibres) and they are more resistant to chemical treatment and high temperature than the thicker collagen fibres of connective tissue. Nevertheless their material (reticuliri) consists largely of collagen, and transitional states are frequently found. Indeed in formation of collagen fibres (in embryo or after wounding), reticulin fibres appear first and change to collagen.
