Значение термина rhodophyta в knolik

rhodophyta - rhodophyta
rhodophyta - Red algae (seaweeds). Division of algae. Possess chlorophyll a and d, α-, β-carotene, xanthophylls, phycocyanin (blue) and phycoerythrin (red) pigments. Usually red in colour because of predominance of phycoerythrin. Main food reserve is a form of starch (amylopectin). Relatively small compared with brown algae (Phaeophyta), but also very diverse. Thallus in a few forms microscopic, in others filamentous, often highly branched, or flattened, membranous. Cell wall two-layered, inner of cellulose, outer of pectic material, gelatinous. Motile reproductive cells absent. Mostly marine, especially in warmer seas, widely distributed, benthic (often epiphytic) in lower part of intertidal zone. Some coralline forms are important in reef building, some yield agar, others (Irish moss) are eaten.
