Значение термина tissue culture в knolik

tissue culture - tissue culture (EXPLANTATION)
tissue culture - A technique for maintaining fragments of animal or plant tissue or separated cells alive after their removal from the organism. The tissue fragments (explants) or cells are kept usually within some sort of glass vessel, in a medium of the right properties (isotonic, buffered to correct pH, with correct balance of metallic ions, See also: Physiological Saline-, with suitable mechanical properties, at correct temperature, and containing the necessary oxygen and food material). Foreign organisms, especially bacteria and fungi, must usually be excluded. The medium may have to be frequently renewed to maintain food supply. The technique cannot be used for large pieces of tissue, because the cells in the middle of a large mass are not sufficiently close to the medium to receive food and dispose of excretions. See also: Organ culture.
