ablaincourt - Village of France, in the department of Somme. About 8 m S.W. of Peronne, S. of the river Somme, it figured prominently in the first battle of the Somme (q.v.). It was captured by the French Nov. 7, 1916, retaken by the Germans in the spring of 1918, and finally regained by the Allies in Aug., 1918."
