acceptance - In commerce, the completion of a transaction over a bill of exchange. In English law an acceptance may be either general or qualified. A qualified acceptance varies as to time and place of payment, etc., according to the conditions stated in the bill. A bill may be accepted after it has been dishonoured. See Bill of Exchange.
