aconcagua, chile - Central province of Chile. Extending from the Andes to the Pacific, it is mountainous and is traversed by the Aconcagua river. The climate is hot and dry, and the soil fertile in the river valleys and where it is irrigated. Fruits, alfalfa, and wine are the chief products, and copper silver, lead, and iron abound.
