acorus - Genus of two hardy perennial plants, belonging to the family Araceae. They are plants of the water-side, and are known popularly as sweet flags. They are grown chiefly in the muddy edges of ponds and ornamental lakes. They attain to a height of 3 ft. or thereabouts, and the small yellow flowers are in evidence during the summer. They are increased by division of the roots in the early spring.
