adamello - Adamello;adamello - Mt. of Italy, 11,661 ft. high, in the Lombard Alps. The chief peak of a great glacier region between the Val Camonica, on the W., and the Etschthal, or Adige Valley, on the E., it was first ascended in 1864 by Julius Payer. In April, 1916, Italian Alpini and Austrian troops fought bitterly for possession of the peak. The Italians were successful.
