small-flowered buttercup - A pale green hairy annual, weedy, sprawling up to a foot long, and not immediately obvious as a Buttercup; root-leaves small, rounded in outline, lobed and deeply toothed. Flowers with tiny pale yellow petals, on furrowed stalks. Fruits very rough. Habitat: Widespread but local on bare dry ground, mostly on chalk or limestone; rare in Ireland; not in Scotland. May-July. (Scarce plant)
