flagellata - Glass of Protozoa characterized by possession of one or more flagella. Includes both plant- and animal-like forms and some with mixed characteristics. Opinions differ as to the position of some flagellated unicellular plants with chlorophyll and cellulose wall; some biologists include them in the FlageData and some place them in the Algae. Different groups of Flagellata may be related to the various ancestors of the Metazoa, Parazoa, and Metaphyta, and it is possible that the other Protozoan groups were derived from flagellated forms.
