aar - Aar (aare, or arole)
aar - River of Switzerland. About 180 m. in length, it rises in the canton of Berne, near the Grimsel pass, flows through lakes Brienz and Thun, and joins the Rhine near Wald-shut. Its chief tributaries are the Reuss and the Limmat; another is the Zhil, which brings down the waters of Lake Neuchatel.
