airedale, james kitson, 1st baron - Airedale, james kitson, 1st baron (1835-1911);
airedale, james kitson, 1st baron - English manufacturer. Born at Leeds, Sept. 22, 1835, and educated at University College, London, he entered his father's engineering works at Leeds, and greatly developed the Yorkshire iron and steel industry. From 1892 to 1907 he was Liberal M.P. for Colne Valley, and was then created a peer. He died March 16, 1911, when his son, Albert Ernest Kitson (b. 1863), became 2nd baron.
